Friday 5th - Sunday 7th July 2019, Kent, UK

Join Claire and musician, Carys Evans, on a nourishing and soulful retreat for women – women at every stage of their life’s journey. Whether pregnant or postnatal, menstruating, approaching or arrived at menopause, we welcome you, as you are.

A Welcoming Home to Yourself //

Held at the beautiful grounds of The Quaives in the Kent countryside, this weekend retreat offers an escape from the hum of the city; an opportunity to reconnect with the lunar and seasonal cycles, as well as your own cyclical nature.

We’ll take inspiration from the Tridevi Goddesses of the Hindu Pantheon to explore and embody the cycles of creation and destruction. We’ll clear mental space, ease physical dis-ease, and establish our connection to the divine feminine though yoga, storytelling, sound, and voice. We’re also delighted to welcome London-based dance artist Maria Da Luz Ghoumrassi, who will lead and support us through an exploratory movement and dance session.

There will be time to rest, time to sleep, time to be silent, and time to connect with sisters.
This collaboratively run creative-led day retreat is open for all who identify as female. We have on-site caterers who are sensitive to dietary nuances, and a range of accommodation options to suit budget and taste. Payment plans are available for those who would prefer to make their investment in monthly instalments.

Above all else our intention is that you leave feeling that you’ve nourished your soul, with movement, with music, with yogic practices & stories, and with nature.

Investment // packages available from £350-£395 for the weekend based on shared board and includes all yoga classes, guided meditations, both artist-led sessions, accommodation, catering and full access to the shala, hot tub and grounds. Payment plans are available for those who would rather make their investment in instalments.

This retreat includes six yoga and meditation sessions over the course of the weekend taking place in the peaceful yoga shala; under the stars; and in the gardens. On Friday we welcome you with a gentle restorative practice, yoga nidra, and a fire ceremony to open the space. On Saturday our practice together will incorporate an exploration of our cyclical nature with myth, mudra, and mantra. We’ll embody stories of Tridevi Goddesses of the Hindu Pantheon, set to a live soundscape. On Sunday our practice is light and energetic, outside in nature. In addition you’ll have the opportunity to join for morning meditations and evening yoga nidras under the stars. All sessions will be led by Claire, accompanied by live and recorded sound.

The process of dance and movement provides an embodied confidence; enabling a freedom in the body which allows us to more fully express ourselves. Here movement can be transformational, therapeutic, and cathartic. In recent years ongoing scientific studies on the benefit of dance as a therapy has been well documented and gaining traction as a tool for dementia patients, those experiencing mental illness or physical trauma, as well as for our general health and wellbeing. Led expertly by Maria Da Luz Ghoumrassi, we’ll explore movement as a tool to embody confidence as well as making use of body mapping (drawing) to express emotions that arise.

We’ll use the space we’ve created though yoga, movement and dance to free up the throat and discover the power of our own voices through a voice and sound workshop led by Carys. It can sometimes be difficult to feel we’re really heard, or that we can really express our feelings and thoughts in a genuine way. Getting to know your voice, and learning how you can utilise this tool, can be incredibly empowering for women. Don’t worry if you’re a nervous public speaker or an introvert at heart - warm ups, group singing and infectious rhythms will guide you.

The yoga shala is situated in 9 acres of nature at The Quaives - a 16th Century manor house in the Kent countryside. We have a spectrum of shared board accommodation to suit budget and taste - from beautiful humble dorms to self contained cottages. Catering is created bespoke by an on-site team of chefs trained at The Holistic Academy, and all produce is locally soured as much as possible. If that’s not enough, we have full use of the gardens all weekend, including the private hot tub overlooking sprawling countryside all weekend - bliss.

All the Gods waited upon the Goddess and asked: 'Great Goddess, who art thou?'

She replied: 'I am essentially Brahman (the ultimate reality). From me has proceeded the world of Prakrti (matter) and Purusha (consciousness).

I am all forms of bliss and non-bliss. Knowledge and ignorance are myself.

I am the five elements. I am the entire universe. I am the Vedas.

I am the born; I am the unborn.

Below, and above, and all around am I.'
