Regular yoga and meditation promotes a shift in the internal workings of the mind; facilitating space for creative thinking and cultivating a positive approach to problem-solving. Morning yoga practice provides the opportunity to tune in, refocus, and begin the day with renewed mental clarity and positivity.

This class is based on the structure and discipline of the Ashtanga-Vinyasa system, but with the freedom offered to explore individual movement patterns and dispel areas of held tension. Open to all – with modifications and options provided – expect a down-to-earth morning practice, simple sounds to move to, some physical challenge and short meditations.

Morning practices hold a special resonance for me; providing solace from – and inspiration for – daily life. My intention with this class is that you are supported and inspired to develop your own daily practices at home too; creating ritual out of routine.

Together with Ray Mahabir of Sunshine International Arts, I established Yoga at Sunshine in March 2014. Built on the foundation that yoga in the city should be accessible and sustainable for all, classes run at S.I.A's community C.A.F.E (Carnival Arts for Everyone); a charity supported by Arts Council England. This wonderful creative space enables us to keep yoga classes affordable; nurturing the gathering and growth of a community spirit in Loughborough Junction, whilst providing a welcoming environment to move our bodies, to find a stillness within, to breathe, release and reconnect. Yoga at Sunshine’s weekly classes are facilitated by a group of south-east London teachers. The space also welcomes guest teachers offering one off workshops to develop your practice, and courses for beginners. I currently teach Thursday night classes which provide an opportunity to wind down at the end of the day, and give particular importance to the breath as a gateway to a deeper practice.
