Monthly beginners workshops in Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga and the Eight Limbs of Yoga philosophy.
ashtanga vinyasa & the eight limbs of yoga.
These workshops are aimed at beginners to the Primary Series. We will start with a little background on the origins of this traditional practice and explore the importance of the Bandhas (energy locks), Ujjayi (breath), Drishti (gaze) and Vinyasa. We will move though a modified primary series following the traditional sanskrit count.
As well as an intro to the asana practice of the Ashtanga Primary Series, we shall start to explore the Eight Limbs, or Petals, of yoga according to Patanjili's Yoga Sutras; Yamas, Niyamas, Asana, Pramayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dyana, Samadhi. We will focus on each limb of the Eight Limbs of Yoga month by month.
We'll end each session with a deep relaxation, and there will be time after for some treats, tea and chats until 12.00.
Each workshop is 2 hours in total, and will cost £15. You can book and pay in advance for both if you like. Although this is a series of workshops, and one will continue from the other, you do not have to attend all.
