I usually offer these indulgent raw treats after yoga nidra or prenatal classes, or to have with tea after Yoga@Sunshine's Ashtanga workshops. They are a great little natural pick-me-up to get everyone off home safely. They always go down so well, and everyone always asks for the recipe.
So, here it is...
I N G R E D I E N T S:
For 15-20 balls
100g ground almonds
100g desiccated coconut
60g premium quality cocoa or raw cacao powder
150g premium quality honey
A dash or vanilla essence or the seeds of one vanilla pod.
Desiccated coconut or cocoa to dust them in.
Measure ingredients and mix together in a bowl. Transfer to a blender to make sure all ingredients are combined together and covered in honey. Roll into small balls and coat with more desiccated coconut, cocoa/cacao powder or any other decorative dusting.
Optional: for the ones on the left pictured here, I added the seeds of five cardamom pods (husks removed) and a pinch of ginger (to taste) for a little bit of spicy warmth. They are coated in a natural edible gold dusting.
